Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board, Failed display/control panel, Oxidized connectors at UI, Faulty main control board communication circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or display housing.

Access the user interface:

  • On many Summit models, the display is located on the refrigerator door or inside the fresh food compartment ceiling.
  • Remove the trim or screws securing the UI panel and gently pull it forward.

Check connections:

  • Locate the ribbon cable or harness connecting the UI to the main board.
  • Unplug and re-seat the connector several times to clean the contacts.
  • Inspect for corrosion, bent pins, or damaged traces on the UI board.

Inspect main board connection:

  • At the rear control compartment, verify the UI harness is firmly connected to the main PCB.

Test: Reassemble, restore power, and see if E6 clears. If the code returns and wiring is good, replace the user interface board. If a new UI does not resolve the issue, the main control board may be defective.
