Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before servicing the ice maker area.
Locate the ice sensor: On Summit models with built-in ice makers, a thermistor is often mounted near the ice mold or in the ice storage compartment.
- Remove the ice bin and any covers to access the ice maker assembly.
- Identify the small sensor and its wiring harness.
Inspection and testing:
- Check for broken wires, ice damage, or a loose connector.
- Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the expected value at room temperature; an open or short indicates failure.
Repair: Replace the ice maker thermistor if defective. Ensure the new sensor is properly positioned and secured. If the sensor tests good but E7 persists, the main control board may require replacement.
