Possible Causes

Stuck or shorted temperature sensor, Main control board stuck in continuous cooling, Damaged or mispositioned thermistor, User settings set too cold

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing sensors or control boards.

Basic checks:

  • Verify the temperature setpoints on the control panel; adjust to a warmer setting and monitor for several hours.
  • Ensure the refrigerator is not located in an unheated space where ambient temperature is very low, which can affect operation.

Sensor inspection:

  • Locate the refrigerator and freezer thermistors (usually behind small covers on the interior walls).
  • Ensure sensors are properly clipped in place and not touching cold surfaces directly.
  • Test resistance with a multimeter; a shorted sensor will show very low resistance.

Repair: Replace any thermistor that tests out of range. If sensors are good but L1 persists and the compressor runs excessively, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
