Refrigerator displays E03 and fresh food compartment temperature is inaccurate or fluctuates.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal panels.
Steps to check:
- Locate the sensor: The fresh food temperature sensor is typically behind a small plastic cover on the rear or side wall of the refrigerator compartment.
- Inspect the sensor and wiring: Remove the cover and gently pull the sensor forward. Check for broken wires, corrosion on the connector, or physical damage to the sensor body.
- Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance with a multimeter. Compare the reading to Thermador's NTC temperature/resistance chart (commonly around 5–10 kΩ at room temperature). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace if faulty: If the sensor is out of spec, install a new Thermador-compatible refrigerator temperature sensor and reconnect the harness.
Note: If the sensor tests good but E03 persists, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need replacement by a technician.
