Possible Causes

Open or shorted refrigerator temperature sensor (NTC), Damaged sensor wiring harness, Failed main control board temperature input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal panels.

Steps to check:

  • Locate the sensor: The fresh food temperature sensor is typically behind a small plastic cover on the rear or side wall of the refrigerator compartment.
  • Inspect the sensor and wiring: Remove the cover and gently pull the sensor forward. Check for broken wires, corrosion on the connector, or physical damage to the sensor body.
  • Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance with a multimeter. Compare the reading to Thermador's NTC temperature/resistance chart (commonly around 5–10 kΩ at room temperature). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace if faulty: If the sensor is out of spec, install a new Thermador-compatible refrigerator temperature sensor and reconnect the harness.

Note: If the sensor tests good but E03 persists, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need replacement by a technician.
