Possible Causes
Defective ambient temperature sensor (cabinet or room sensor), Damaged sensor wiring, Main control board sensor input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing any external or cabinet sensors.
Steps to check:
- Locate the ambient sensor: On some Thermador models, this sensor is located behind a grille or in the machine compartment to sense room temperature.
- Inspect wiring: Check for damage or disconnection of the sensor harness.
- Test resistance: Remove the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the Thermador NTC chart for the current room temperature. Replace if out of range.
Note: If the sensor is good but E16 persists, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and should be evaluated by a technician.
