Possible Causes

Defective freezer NTC sensor,Connector corrosion at freezer NTC,Pinched or broken NTC wiring in door or cabinet channel,Main control board sensor input failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator from the wall socket before any disassembly.

Diagnostic and fix steps:

  • 1. Confirm freezer temperature: Use a freezer-safe thermometer to verify actual temperature. If the display shows unrealistic values or F02 appears, suspect the NTC.
  • 2. Locate the freezer NTC: On V-ZUG models, the freezer NTC is usually behind a cover on the rear or side wall of the freezer, sometimes integrated near the evaporator cover.
  • 3. Remove drawers and panels: Take out freezer drawers and carefully remove the plastic cover to access the sensor. Avoid forcing brittle plastic in cold conditions; allow it to warm slightly if needed.
  • 4. Inspect the sensor and harness: Look for ice buildup around the sensor, damaged insulation, or loose connectors. Ice or moisture can cause intermittent readings.
  • 5. Defrost localized ice: If the sensor is encased in ice, unplug the appliance and allow the freezer to defrost fully (place towels to catch water). Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
  • 6. Electrical test (advanced): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the NTC and measure resistance. Compare to V-ZUG specifications. A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a failed sensor.
  • 7. Replace the freezer NTC: Install a genuine V-ZUG freezer NTC sensor, routing the cable exactly as original to avoid pinching when reassembling panels.
  • 8. If F02 persists: Inspect the wiring harness from the sensor to the main control board at the rear. If wiring is intact, the main control module may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.

Warning: Do not attempt to access sealed foam-insulated areas; this can damage the cabinet and void warranty.
