Burned-out freezer evaporator fan motor,Ice obstruction around freezer fan,Connector failure at fan harness,Main PCB fan output failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before removing freezer panels.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm symptom: Food near the evaporator cover may be frozen solid while other areas are soft. Little airflow is felt when the door switch is held closed.
- 2. Remove drawers and back panel: Take out freezer baskets and unscrew the rear inner panel to access the evaporator and fan.
- 3. Check for frost/ice: If the fan area is heavily iced, defrost the unit completely. This may indicate an underlying defrost problem (see defrost-related faults).
- 4. Inspect fan motor: Look for signs of water ingress, rust, or burnt smell. Ensure the fan blades are intact and not rubbing.
- 5. Electrical check (optional): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan and measure motor resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- 6. Replace fan motor: Install a genuine V-ZUG freezer evaporator fan motor, reconnect the harness, and reassemble the panel ensuring no wires are trapped.
- 7. If F06 remains: The main control board may not be driving the fan. Professional diagnosis is recommended.
Warning: Metal edges inside the freezer can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
