Possible Causes
Defective magnetic door reed switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty input on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing control panels or door trims.
Steps to address E12 (door sensor):
- Check door closure: Ensure the door is closing fully and not obstructed by shelves, food items, or warped gaskets.
- Inspect door magnet and switch: On many Vestfrost models, a magnet in the door interacts with a reed switch in the cabinet frame. Verify the magnet is present and not loose. Locate the switch behind the liner or in the top frame.
- Test the switch: With the refrigerator unplugged, access the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while placing a magnet near it. The switch should open/close as the magnet is moved.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the switch to the control board for damage, especially near hinge areas.
- Replace faulty components: Install a new door switch or magnet as needed. If the PCB input is faulty, the main board may require replacement.
Tip: After repair, verify that the interior light turns off when the door is closed and that the alarm no longer sounds.
