Possible Causes

Loose or damaged ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Failed display/control board, Moisture ingress into control panel, Firmware communication error

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before removing the control panel or display housing.

Steps to address E14 (UI communication):

  • Inspect the control panel: Check for signs of moisture, condensation, or physical damage to the display and buttons.
  • Check ribbon cable: Remove the control panel cover and locate the flat ribbon or harness connecting the UI to the main PCB. Reseat both ends carefully, ensuring no bent pins.
  • Dry the area: If moisture is present, allow the panel and connectors to dry completely before reassembly.
  • Test operation: Restore power and test buttons and display. If E14 persists, the UI board or main PCB may be defective.
  • Replace faulty board: Replace the user interface/display board first, as it is more commonly at fault. If the issue remains, replace the main PCB as per Vestfrost service instructions.

Note: Handle ribbon cables gently to avoid tearing or breaking conductors.
