Possible Causes
Stuck compressor or fan relay on PCB, Firmware logic error, Shorted output transistor, Corrupted mode settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the control board.
Steps to handle E18 (mode control):
- Reset modes: Turn off any special modes (Super Freeze, Holiday, etc.) via the control panel, then unplug the unit for 10 minutes and reconnect.
- Observe operation: Check if the compressor and fans respond correctly to mode changes after reset.
- Inspect PCB relays: Access the main PCB and look for relays with burn marks or signs of overheating. Lightly tap a suspect relay (with power off) to see if it is mechanically stuck.
- Replace main PCB: If relays are stuck or outputs do not respond correctly, replace the main control board with the correct Vestfrost part.
Warning: Do not attempt to bypass or jumper relays; this can create fire and shock hazards.
