Possible Causes
Low water pressure to refrigerator, Partially clogged water filter, Warm freezer temperature, Mineral buildup in ice maker mold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Shut off water and unplug the refrigerator if removing the ice maker.
Steps:
- Check water pressure: Ensure the supply line is 1/4" copper or braided and not a self-piercing saddle valve. Pressure should be at least 20–40 psi.
- Replace filter: Install a new Viking OEM water filter to restore flow.
- Verify freezer temp: Freezer should be around 0°F (-18°C). Adjust settings if too warm.
- Clean mold: If accessible, gently clean the ice mold with warm water to remove mineral deposits.
Corrective action: After improving water flow and freezer temperature, allow 24 hours for ice quality to normalize. If issues persist, the ice maker or valve may need replacement.
