Possible Causes
Expired or saturated water filter, Stagnant water in lines, Food odors absorbed into ice, Contaminated drain pan or interior surfaces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No electrical work is required. Shut off water if disconnecting lines.
Steps:
- Replace filter: Install a new Viking OEM water filter if it is older than 6 months or if usage is heavy.
- Flush system: Dispense and discard 2–3 gallons of water to flush the filter and lines. Discard the first 1–2 batches of ice.
- Clean interior: Remove old or spoiled food and clean interior surfaces with a baking soda solution.
- Check drain pan: Inspect and clean the drain pan under the unit if accessible.
Corrective action: If taste issues persist after thorough flushing and cleaning, consider replacing the water supply line and having the water quality tested.
