Possible Causes

Open-circuit NTC sensor in freezer compartment, Shorted NTC sensor in freezer compartment, Damaged wiring between freezer NTC and main PCB, Faulty main control board (PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the refrigerator from mains power before removing panels or testing components.

Diagnostic steps:

  • Reset attempt: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 reappears, proceed.
  • Locate freezer NTC: The sensor is usually clipped to the evaporator cover or rear wall of the freezer. Remove drawers and the rear inner panel (if accessible) to expose the sensor.
  • Visual inspection: Look for ice buildup around the sensor, broken wires, or a loose connector. Carefully defrost heavy ice with a hairdryer on low, keeping it away from plastic parts and wiring.
  • Test the sensor: Disconnect the NTC and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values (around 5–10 kΩ at 20–25°C). Replace if open or shorted.
  • Check harness and PCB connection: At the rear of the appliance, remove the control board cover and ensure the freezer sensor plug is fully seated and wires are not damaged.
  • Replace components as needed: Install a new freezer NTC sensor if faulty. If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 persists, the main PCB may require replacement.

Professional help: PCB replacement and sealed wiring repairs should be done by a qualified technician.
