Possible Causes

Faulty electronic thermostat on PCB, Incorrect sensor readings, Damaged control knob or encoder (on mechanical interface models), Firmware issue

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing controls.

Steps:

  • Check set temperatures: Ensure the fridge and freezer are not set to extreme values. Reset to factory recommended settings.
  • Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect to clear temporary logic errors.
  • Inspect control knob (if fitted): For models with a rotary thermostat, ensure the knob is not cracked or slipping on the shaft.
  • Sensor check: If other sensor errors (E1–E3) are present, resolve those first as they can cause E31.
  • Board replacement: If behaviour remains erratic, the thermostat function on the main PCB may be defective and require replacement.
