Display shows E40 and the door open alarm sounds even when doors are closed

Safety: Unplug the appliance if removing trims or panels.

Checks:

• Inspect door alignment: Ensure the door closes squarely against the cabinet and the gasket seals all around. Adjust hinges if necessary.
• Test door switch: For push-button switches, press and release while observing the interior light. Replace if intermittent.
• Check magnet and reed sensor: On models with hidden sensors, verify the magnet in the door edge/gasket is present and aligned with the sensor area in the frame.
• Inspect wiring: Look for damage near the top hinge where cables may pass into the door.
• Replace faulty parts: Fit a new door switch, reed sensor, or magnet as required.
