Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Damaged fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the fan area. Beware of sharp metal edges.

Diagnosis:

  • Listen for fan: After closing the door switch (press it in) and with the unit powered (for testing only), the fan should run when the compressor is on. If silent, proceed with checks after unplugging.
  • Access fan: Remove freezer drawers and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
  • Check for ice: Look for ice buildup around the fan shroud or blades. If present, fully defrost the area. Do not force the fan to turn if frozen.
  • Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan blades. They should rotate freely. Stiff or seized movement indicates a bad motor.
  • Electrical test: Disconnect the fan connector and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • Inspect wiring: Ensure the harness from the fan to the PCB is intact and connectors are secure.
  • Replace fan motor: If faulty, install a new Zanussi-compatible evaporator fan motor assembly and reassemble panels.

Note: If the fan and wiring are good but E7 persists, the main PCB may be at fault and should be checked by a professional.
