Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay/PTC, Faulty main control board not energising compressor, Loose compressor wiring, Overload protector tripped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before accessing the rear components.
Steps:
- Listen for compressor: When previously powered, note if you heard clicking every few minutes (start relay issue) or complete silence (control issue).
- Access compressor: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the compressor and start device.
- Inspect start device: Remove the plastic housing on the compressor terminals. Look for burn marks or a burnt smell. Gently shake the relay/PTC; if it rattles, it is likely faulty.
- Check connections: Ensure all spade connectors are firmly attached to the compressor and start device.
- Replace start device: If suspect, replace with the correct Zanussi start relay/PTC kit.
- Control board: If the compressor still does not attempt to start, the main PCB may not be sending power and should be checked by a technician.
