Possible Causes
Rear caster wheel jammed, Damaged rear wheel rotation sensor, Broken sensor magnet, Loose sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the mower and place it on its side on a soft surface. Wear gloves.
- Check rear wheel movement: Spin the rear caster or support wheel by hand. It should rotate freely. Remove any grass or string wrapped around the axle.
- Clean sensor area: Many AL-KO models use a magnet and sensor near the rear wheel. Clean off dirt and grass that may block the sensor.
- Inspect magnet: Ensure the magnet disc or ring on the wheel is intact and not cracked or missing segments.
- Check wiring: Follow the cable from the rear wheel sensor to the main PCB. Reseat the connector and inspect for damage.
- Test operation: After cleaning and reconnecting, test the mower in a small area. If E17 recurs, replace the rear wheel sensor assembly.
