Possible Causes
Cutting deck filled with wet, tall grass, Severely dull or damaged blades, Deck height set too low for grass length, Blade motor driver overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the main power and wear gloves before touching the cutting disc or blades.
- Raise cutting height: Increase the cutting height to the maximum setting to reduce load on the blades.
- Manually clear deck: Turn the mower on its side and remove all packed grass from the deck and around the blade disc.
- Replace blades: If blades are dull, bent, or chipped, replace them with new AL-KO blades. Always replace all blades at once for balance.
- Mow in stages: For very tall grass, pre-cut with a conventional mower or run multiple shorter sessions, gradually lowering the height.
- Cooling period: Allow the mower to cool for 30 minutes if it has been running in heavy conditions. Then restart.
- Persistent overload: If E18 appears even in light grass with clean deck and new blades, the blade motor or driver on the main PCB may be failing and should be replaced.
