Possible Causes
Moisture ingress into keypad, Damaged membrane keys, Loose ribbon cable to main PCB, Faulty control panel PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the mower and remove it from the lawn. Do not use water or high-pressure cleaners on the control panel.
- Dry the panel: If the mower was recently washed or exposed to heavy rain, move it to a dry, warm area for 24 hours with the cover open (if possible) to allow moisture to evaporate.
- Inspect for cracks: Check the keypad overlay for cracks or holes that could allow water in. If damaged, the keypad should be replaced.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the top housing to access the control panel. Ensure the flat ribbon cable is fully inserted into the connector on the main PCB and panel PCB.
- Clean contacts: If corrosion is visible, gently clean the connector with contact cleaner and a soft brush, then reconnect.
- Panel test: Power on the mower and press each key. If some keys do not respond or E8 remains, replace the complete control panel assembly.
