Possible Causes
Grass or string wrapped around drive wheel, Wheel motor seized, Damaged wheel gearbox, Faulty wheel motor encoder
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF the main switch and wear cut-resistant gloves before touching the underside or wheels.
- Inspect both drive wheels: Look for grass, roots, or wire wrapped around the wheel axles. Remove all debris carefully with pliers or a knife, avoiding damage to seals.
- Check wheel rotation: With power OFF, rotate each wheel by hand. They should turn smoothly with some resistance from the gearbox. A locked or very rough wheel indicates a mechanical fault.
- Clean wheel treads: Remove compacted mud or grass from the wheel treads to reduce load.
- Restart the mower: Turn ON and start a manual mow to see if E004 clears.
- If the error persists: The affected drive wheel motor, gearbox, or motor encoder may need replacement. This requires opening the chassis and disconnecting the motor from the main board.
