Possible Causes

Grass or debris jammed under cutting disc, Bent cutting blades, Seized blade motor bearing, Faulty blade motor current sensor on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn main power OFF and remove the battery connector. Never work near the blades with power connected.

  • Flip the mower carefully: Place it on a clean, stable surface upside down, protecting the display and covers.
  • Clear debris: Remove built‑up grass, twigs, and rope/cord from around the cutting disc and blade motor shaft using a plastic scraper or brush. Do not use metal tools that may damage the deck.
  • Inspect blades: Check each Cub Cadet replacement blade for bends, cracks, or missing screws. Replace damaged blades as a set using the correct OEM blade kit and torque the screws per the manual.
  • Check disc rotation: Spin the cutting disc by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the blade motor or its bearing is likely damaged.
  • Test again: Reconnect the battery, turn power ON, and start a manual mow. If E002 returns immediately, the blade motor or control board may need replacement.

Do not bypass overload protection. If the motor overheats or smells burnt, stop using the mower and have a technician inspect the blade motor and main PCB.
