Boundary Loop Signal Lost / No Loop Detected
Display shows E004 and mower stops near boundary wire

Possible Causes
Broken boundary wire, Loose boundary wire connection at charging station, Failed boundary transmitter in charging base, Interference from nearby buried cables
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and unplug the charging station from mains power before touching any wiring.
- Check charging station LEDs: Most Cub Cadet bases have a loop indicator LED. If it is off or red, the boundary loop is open or shorted.
- Inspect boundary wire at base: Open the terminal cover and verify both boundary wire ends are firmly clamped and not corroded. Trim and re‑strip the wire ends if needed and reinsert.
- Walk the perimeter: Look for visible damage where the boundary wire may have been cut by edging tools, pets, or garden work. Common spots are path crossings and flower bed edges.
- Use a wire break locator (optional): A simple AM radio or dedicated loop tester can help locate breaks by following the signal along the wire.
- Repair breaks: Use Cub Cadet‑approved waterproof boundary wire connectors to join cut sections. Do not twist wires together without proper connectors.
- Test again: Plug in the charging station, confirm the loop LED is solid green, then restart the mower. If E004 persists with a good loop LED, the loop receiver circuit in the mower may be faulty.
