Possible Causes
Wet or muddy lawn causing wheel spin, Worn drive wheel tread, Excessive slope beyond specification, Faulty wheel speed sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower before handling it on slopes or wet ground.
- Check lawn conditions: Avoid running the mower immediately after heavy rain or irrigation. Let the grass dry to improve traction.
- Inspect wheel tread: Examine the drive wheels for worn or clogged tread. Clean mud and grass from the grooves. Replace wheels if the rubber is worn smooth.
- Adjust boundary on slopes: If E17 occurs on steep areas, move the boundary wire to exclude slopes that exceed the mower's rated incline.
- Inspect speed sensors: Some Einhell models use magnetic or optical sensors on the wheel hubs. Check that sensor discs are intact and sensors are clean and properly aligned.
- Test again: After cleaning and adjustments, run the mower on a flat area. If E17 still appears, the wheel speed sensor or mainboard input may be faulty and require replacement.
