Possible Causes
Grass or twine wrapped around cutting disc, Overgrown or wet dense grass, Seized cutting disc bearing, Faulty cutting motor on Flymo cutting deck
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the main power switch OFF and remove the mower from the lawn. Wear cut‑resistant gloves before touching the blades.
- Inspect underside: Turn the mower upside down on a soft surface. Check for packed grass, branches, or rope/string wrapped around the cutting disc.
- Clean the deck: Use a plastic scraper or brush to remove built‑up grass from the cutting deck and around the motor spindle. Do not use a metal tool that could damage plastic parts.
- Check blade disc rotation: Manually rotate the cutting disc. It should spin freely without grinding or tight spots. If stiff, the disc bearing or motor shaft may be damaged.
- Reduce grass height: If the lawn is very long, pre‑cut with a conventional mower to a moderate height, then resume robotic mowing.
- Restart: Return the mower upright, switch ON, and start a manual mow. If E4 recurs quickly with a clean deck, the cutting motor may be failing and require replacement.
