Possible Causes

Broken boundary wire, Loose or corroded boundary wire connector, Defective boundary loop output on Gardena charging station, Boundary wire laid incorrectly around obstacles

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Press the STOP button, switch the main power OFF on the mower, and unplug the charging station power supply before touching any wiring.

  • Check mower position: Move the mower manually back inside the lawn area and restart it on the charging station. If the error clears, the mower may have been outside the loop.
  • Inspect boundary wire path: Walk the entire loop. Look for visible cuts, nail/screw damage, or places where garden work may have broken the wire.
  • Test for wire break: Disconnect the boundary wire ends from the Gardena charging station. Use a simple continuity tester or multimeter to confirm the loop is closed. Infinite resistance indicates a break.
  • Repair damaged wire: Cut out damaged sections and reconnect using original Gardena boundary wire connectors. Ensure the copper conductors are fully inserted and the gel-filled connector is firmly crimped.
  • Check connectors at charging station: Make sure the boundary wire is fully inserted into the left and right boundary terminals and that the screws/clamps are tight and corrosion-free.
  • Verify loop layout: Confirm the wire is not routed too far from the lawn edge or around metal objects that can distort the signal. Adjust according to the Gardena installation guide.
  • Power cycle: Reconnect the boundary wire, plug in the power supply, wait 1–2 minutes, then restart the mower on the station.

If Error 1 persists with a known-good loop, the charging station’s loop generator may be faulty and should be tested or replaced by a technician.
