Possible Causes

Grass or rope wrapped around blade disc, Stones or branches jammed under cutting deck, Seized cutting motor bearing, Defective cutting motor on Gardena mower

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Press STOP, switch OFF the mower, remove the key (if present), and wait until all parts have completely stopped before turning the mower over.

  • Inspect blade disc: Turn the mower over and visually check the cutting disc and blades. Remove any trapped grass, string, or debris using gloves.
  • Check for foreign objects: Look for stones, branches, or toys wedged between the disc and chassis. Remove carefully.
  • Spin disc by hand: The disc should rotate freely with slight resistance. If it is stiff or grinding, the motor bearing may be damaged.
  • Check blades: Ensure all Gardena replacement blades are correctly mounted, not bent, and screws are tight. Replace damaged blades.
  • Restart test: Place the mower upright, switch ON, and start a manual mowing session. Listen for abnormal noises from the cutting motor.

If the error reappears quickly with a clean deck, the cutting motor may be failing and should be replaced.
