Possible Causes
Internal battery cell imbalance or failure, Defective battery management electronics in pack, Wrong or non-original battery installed, Damaged battery temperature sensor cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF the mower and remove the key. Do not short-circuit or open the battery pack.
- Visual inspection: Remove the battery cover and check the pack for swelling, leakage, or burn marks. If present, do not reuse the battery.
- Check connectors: Ensure the battery connector is fully seated and that no pins are bent or corroded.
- Use original parts: Confirm that the installed battery is an original Gardena replacement with the correct voltage and capacity.
- Reset: Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then reconnect and place the mower on the charging station to attempt a fresh charge.
If Error 17 persists, replace the battery pack. If a new pack does not resolve it, the main PCB charging circuit may be defective.
