Possible Causes

Defective lift sensor switch, Loose lift sensor mounting, Damaged or unplugged lift sensor cable, Excessive vibration causing intermittent lift detection

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Press STOP, switch OFF the mower, and remove the key before turning the mower over.

  • Confirm correct placement: Ensure the mower is on a flat, firm surface. Very uneven ground can cause the chassis to flex and trigger the lift sensor.
  • Inspect lift sensor area: Turn the mower over and locate the lift sensor (often near the rear or side chassis). Check for dirt or debris preventing proper contact.
  • Check mounting screws: Tighten any loose screws or clips holding the lift sensor in place.
  • Inspect wiring: Open the housing as per Gardena instructions and verify the lift sensor connector is fully seated on the main PCB and that the cable is not pinched or damaged.
  • Test operation: With the mower upright and powered, gently lift the front or rear to see if the error appears and clears correctly when set down.

If the mower constantly reports being lifted when it is not, the lift sensor module should be replaced.
