Possible Causes

Rain sensor pad contaminated, Sensor permanently wet or corroded, Faulty rain sensor wiring, Failed rain sensor circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the mower before inspecting the rain sensor.

  • Locate rain sensor: On some Greenworks models, the rain sensor is on the top cover as a small grid or pad.
  • Clean sensor area: Wipe gently with a dry cloth to remove dirt, pollen, or residue.
  • Dry thoroughly: If the mower has been in rain, move it under cover and allow it to dry completely.
  • Check settings: In the mower menu or app, verify that the rain sensor function is configured correctly.
  • Restart: Power ON and see if E016 clears after drying.

If the mower always reports rain or E016 even when dry, the rain sensor or main board input may be defective.
