Possible Causes

Lift sensor stuck or damaged, Emergency stop button engaged, Upper housing not seated correctly on chassis, Main board misreading lift sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the main power switch OFF and remove the mower from the lawn. Keep hands away from the blades.

  • Check emergency stop button: On many Hecht robot mowers there is a red STOP or emergency button on the top cover. Make sure it is fully released. Press it down once and then twist or press again to release (depending on model).
  • Inspect lift sensor area: Gently press down on the top cover and check that it sits flush with the chassis. Dirt or grass can prevent the cover from closing fully and keep the lift sensor activated. Clean the contact points with a dry cloth.
  • Check for trapped debris: Turn the mower upside down only after removing the battery or switching the main power OFF. Look around the wheel wells and chassis edges for twigs or stones that might be lifting the body slightly.
  • Reset the mower: Turn the main power switch OFF for 30–60 seconds, then ON again. Place the mower on a flat, firm surface and try to start a manual mow cycle.
  • If E1 persists: The lift sensor or its wiring harness may be faulty. Do not bypass the sensor. Contact a technician to test continuity from the lift sensor to the main PCB and replace the Lift Sensor Assembly if defective.
