Possible Causes
Broken gear teeth in drive gearbox, Foreign object in wheel gear, Worn wheel hub splines, Loose wheel on axle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and remove it from the lawn.
- Check wheel attachment: Ensure the wheel nut or clip is secure and the wheel does not wobble excessively.
- Inspect for debris: Look for stones or branches lodged in the wheel spokes or near the gearbox.
- Spin wheel: Rotate the noisy wheel by hand. If you feel uneven resistance or hear grinding, the Drive Motor Gearbox is likely damaged.
- Replace assembly: Replace the affected Drive Motor Assembly with Gearbox. This is usually supplied as a complete unit for Hecht mowers.
