Possible Causes
Dirty or damaged wheel encoder disc, Faulty wheel speed sensor, Loose encoder connector, Damaged drive motor assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and remove the key. Lift the mower only by designated handles.
- Inspect wheel hubs: Remove the affected wheel (refer to the service manual). Check for an encoder disc or magnet ring and a nearby sensor.
- Clean encoder: Remove grass, mud, or debris from the encoder disc and sensor area using a soft brush.
- Check sensor wiring: Ensure the encoder sensor cable is intact and firmly connected to the main PCB.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the wheel, power ON the mower, and run a short test. If E16 reappears, the sensor or motor assembly may be defective.
Replace the wheel motor/encoder assembly or the separate encoder sensor as specified by Honda for your model.
