Possible Causes
Incorrect PIN entered multiple times, Disconnected security antenna, Faulty keypad, Corrupted security data on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the mower is in a secure location. Turn it OFF before opening any covers.
- Wait lockout period: If the wrong PIN was entered repeatedly, wait the specified lockout time (see Honda manual) before trying again.
- Verify keypad function: Check that all number keys respond correctly; if some keys fail, the keypad may be defective.
- Check security antenna (if equipped): Some models use an RFID or radio module. Ensure its connector is secure.
- Use original PIN: Enter the factory or user PIN carefully. If forgotten, contact an authorized Honda dealer with proof of ownership to reset.
Do not attempt to bypass security circuits. If E17 persists, the main PCB may require reprogramming or replacement by Honda service.
