Possible Causes

Stuck lift sensor switch, Debris blocking lift sensor mechanism, Faulty lift sensor wiring, Defective lift sensor module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and wear gloves. Never bypass lift safety sensors.

  • Place on level ground: Ensure the mower is fully supported on all wheels and not hanging over an edge or obstacle.
  • Inspect lift sensor area: On many Honda robot mowers, the lift sensor is integrated into the front or rear chassis. Check for packed grass or debris that may hold the sensor in the "lifted" position. Clean thoroughly.
  • Gently exercise the sensor: If accessible, gently move the sensor or its mounting plate up and down to free any sticking mechanism (with power OFF).
  • Check wiring: Open the top cover and trace the lift sensor cable to the main board. Ensure the connector is secure and the cable is not damaged.
  • Reset: Reassemble, power ON, and clear the error via the control panel.

If E8 continues even on flat ground, the lift sensor should be replaced to maintain safety certification.
