Possible Causes
Wheel encoder disc dirty or damaged, Encoder sensor misaligned, Drive motor harness loose, Faulty encoder circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the main power and place the mower on a bench or stable surface.
- Access wheel encoders: Remove the rear wheel covers or wheels according to the Hyundai service instructions. Locate the encoder discs and sensors on the drive motors.
- Clean encoder discs: Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust, grass, and spider webs from the slotted or magnetic discs and sensors.
- Check sensor gap: Ensure the encoder sensor is correctly positioned relative to the disc (not touching, not too far). Adjust mounting screws if needed.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the encoder wires back to the main PCB. Confirm connectors are fully seated and wires are not broken at flex points.
- Test on flat ground: Reassemble and test the mower on a flat, dry area. If E8 returns immediately, the encoder or drive motor assembly may need replacement.
