Possible Causes
Cutting grass too high or too dense, Wet or heavy grass clippings clogging deck, Dull or damaged blades increasing load, Partially failing blade motor drawing excess current
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF main power and wear gloves before accessing the blade area.
- Raise cutting height: Adjust the cutting height to a higher setting using the mower's height adjustment knob or lever. Mow in stages if the grass is very tall.
- Clean the cutting deck: Turn the mower over and remove packed grass from around the blade disc and under the deck. Use a plastic scraper; avoid metal tools that can damage the deck.
- Inspect and replace blades: Check that all pivoting blades move freely and are sharp. Replace any dull, chipped, or bent blades with a complete set of genuine Kress Replacement Blades.
- Check for overheating: If the mower feels very hot, allow it to cool in the shade for 30–60 minutes before restarting.
- Persistent E5 in normal grass: If the error occurs even in short, dry grass with a clean deck, the Blade Motor may be failing or the current sensor on the Main Control Board may be out of tolerance. Have the mower inspected by a technician.
