Possible Causes
Defective tilt sensor module, Loose tilt sensor connector, Mower parked on a steep slope or uneven surface, Firmware misreading tilt sensor calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the mower on a flat, level surface and switch it OFF before opening any covers.
- Level placement: Ensure the mower is on a firm, level area. Restart it and see if the E5 code clears. Some LandXcape models will not start if they detect excessive tilt.
- Clean underside: Remove built‑up grass from the underside and around the chassis edges that might prevent the mower from sitting level.
- Check tilt sensor wiring: Open the top cover and locate the tilt/lift sensor (often a small module or micro‑switch assembly attached to the chassis). Verify the connector is firmly seated on the main board and that no wires are pinched or broken.
- Reset power: Turn the main switch OFF for 60 seconds, then back ON to reset the control board. Re‑test.
- Component replacement: If E5 appears even when the mower is level and wiring is intact, the tilt sensor module is likely faulty. Replace it with a compatible LandXcape tilt/lift sensor assembly.
- Do not bypass: Never bypass or short the tilt sensor; it is a critical safety device that stops the blades when the mower is lifted.
