Possible Causes
Grass and dirt packed in caster pivot, Rusted caster bearing, Bent caster fork, Lack of lubrication
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and disconnect the battery before lifting the front end.
- Lift and spin: Raise the front of the mower and spin the caster wheel. It should rotate and swivel freely.
- Clean pivot: Remove the caster assembly and clear grass, mud, and debris from the pivot and axle.
- Lubricate: Apply a light, weather-resistant lubricant to the pivot and bearing surfaces.
- Inspect for damage: Replace the caster wheel assembly if the fork is bent or the bearing is badly worn.
A free-moving caster improves maneuverability and reduces stress on drive motors and turf.
