Possible Causes

Bent chassis frame affecting safety switches, Dislodged safety interlock switch, Cracked housing around sensor mounts, Severe impact damage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF the mower and inspect the exterior carefully.

  • Check for visible damage: Look for cracks, warping, or misalignment of the top cover, front bumper, and side panels.
  • Test cover switches: Open and close any service covers or hatches to ensure their safety switches click and engage properly.
  • Realign housing: If the top cover is mis-seated, remove and reinstall it so that all clips and screws are correctly engaged.
  • Internal inspection: If comfortable, open the housing and check that safety interlock switches are still firmly mounted and actuated by the covers.
  • Reset: After reassembly, power ON and clear E12.

Significant chassis deformation or broken safety switch mounts usually require replacement of the housing or switch assemblies by a Makita service center.
