Possible Causes
Wet rain sensor surface, Faulty rain sensor, Shorted rain sensor wiring, Mower stored under dripping roof or sprinkler
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF the mower before handling.
- Check weather conditions: If it is raining or the grass is very wet, the Makita rain sensor may intentionally prevent mowing. Wait until the lawn dries.
- Inspect rain sensor: Locate the rain sensor area (often on the top housing). Wipe it dry with a clean cloth.
- Check for water pooling: Ensure the charging station is not placed where water drips directly onto the mower.
- Sensor wiring: If comfortable, open the housing and inspect the rain sensor connector and wiring for corrosion or damage.
- Reset: After drying, power ON and clear E7. Try a manual start.
If E7 remains active in dry conditions, the rain sensor may be stuck in the “wet” state and should be replaced or bypassed only by an authorized Makita service center.
