Makita
Reduced Battery Capacity / Aged Battery
Robot mower starts but stops after a few minutes with low runtime, then returns to charge

Possible Causes
Lithium-ion cells degraded from age, Frequent deep discharges, Storage at high temperature, Faulty cell group in battery pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Handle the battery carefully; do not open the pack.
- Check age: Determine how many seasons the Makita mower and battery have been in use. Most packs lose capacity after several years.
- Full charge: Allow the mower to remain on the charging station until it indicates a full charge, then start a manual mow and time the runtime.
- Observe behavior: If the mower repeatedly reports low battery after a short period, capacity is likely reduced.
- Replace battery: Purchase a genuine Makita replacement battery pack specified for your model and install it per the manual.
If a new battery does not improve runtime, the charging system or battery management PCB may be at fault and require service.
