Possible Causes
Faulty hall sensor in cutting motor, Damaged cutting motor cable, Loose connector at main PCB, Main PCB RPM sensing fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the main switch and wear gloves when handling the blade disc.
- Inspect cutting motor cable: Follow the cable from the cutting motor to the main PCB. Ensure it is intact and firmly connected.
- Check for damage: Look for cuts, crushed sections, or signs of overheating on the cable and motor housing.
- Spin disc by hand: Rotate the blade disc and listen for scraping or grinding that might indicate internal motor damage.
- Test after reseating connectors: Reconnect all plugs, power ON, and attempt to start. If E17 returns immediately, the cutting motor assembly (including sensor) is likely faulty.
- Replace motor if needed: Install a new McCulloch-compatible cutting motor assembly. If a new motor does not resolve the error, the main PCB is suspect.
