Possible Causes

Front bumper jammed by debris, Collision sensor microswitch failure, Broken bumper spring, Misaligned bumper frame

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the main switch and remove the mower from the lawn.

  • Check bumper movement: Press the front bumper in and release it. It should move freely and spring back. If it sticks, inspect for grass, twigs, or stones lodged around the bumper.
  • Clean bumper area: Remove all debris from the bumper gap and pivot points. Use compressed air or a soft brush if necessary.
  • Inspect bumper springs: Look for broken or detached springs that return the bumper to its rest position. Replace if missing or damaged.
  • Check collision switches: Remove the top cover and locate the collision sensor switches behind the bumper. Ensure they are not permanently pressed and that their wiring is intact.
  • Test operation: Reassemble, power ON, and start the mower. If E5 persists, the collision sensor assembly or main PCB input may require replacement.
