Possible Causes
Grass packed in height adjustment mechanism, Stripped height adjustment gear, Faulty height adjustment motor, Misaligned height sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower, remove the battery, and wear gloves when working near the cutting deck.
- Clean mechanism: Locate the cutting height adjustment knob or motorized mechanism. Remove grass and debris from around the moving parts.
- Manual movement: If your NAC model allows manual height adjustment, gently move it through its full range. It should move smoothly without binding.
- Inspect gears: Remove the cover over the height motor and gears. Look for broken teeth or displaced gears.
- Check motor operation: Reconnect battery temporarily and command a height change while observing the motor (keep hands clear). If the motor does not turn but receives power, it may be defective.
- Replace components: Replace any stripped gears or the complete height adjustment motor assembly as specified by NAC.
Warning: Never adjust cutting height while the blade is running. Disconnect power before mechanical work.
