Possible Causes

Stuck front bumper, Broken bumper spring or microswitch, Debris lodged between bumper and chassis, Damaged bumper sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and remove it from the lawn before inspection.

  • Check bumper movement: Press the front bumper in and release. It should move freely and spring back. If it sticks, clean the gap between bumper and chassis.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for cracks, missing springs, or misaligned bumper brackets.
  • Access bumper switches: Remove the front cover to expose the bumper microswitches or sensor bar. Ensure they are firmly mounted and actuated when the bumper is pressed.
  • Clean and test switches: Clean around the switches and test them with a multimeter for continuity when pressed. Replace any that fail.
  • Check wiring harness: Follow the bumper sensor wires back to the main PCB and reseat the connector.

When to replace: Replace the bumper assembly or sensor bar if it is physically broken or cannot reliably trigger.
