Possible Causes

Failed Hall sensor on blade motor, Broken RPM sensor wiring, Demagnetized rotor magnets, Faulty motor driver circuit on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the mower, remove the battery, and wear gloves before touching the blade disc.

  • Check for mechanical drag: Ensure the blade disc spins freely by hand. If stiff, see E3 for mechanical issues.
  • Inspect motor connector: Open the housing and locate the blade motor connector. Unplug and inspect for corrosion or burnt pins, then reconnect.
  • Check wiring continuity: Use a multimeter to test continuity of the Hall sensor wires from the motor to the PCB (refer to wiring colors in the service manual if available).
  • Observe start behavior: If the motor starts briefly then stops with E18, the PCB may not be receiving RPM feedback.

When to replace: Replace the blade motor assembly if the Hall sensor is integrated and not serviceable separately. If a new motor does not fix E18, the main PCB motor driver circuit is likely faulty.
