Possible Causes
Grass and dirt packed in caster fork, Rusted caster axle, Bent caster bracket from impact
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the mower and remove the battery before working underneath.
- Remove caster wheel: Take out the retaining pin or bolt holding the front wheel and remove the wheel from the fork.
- Clean thoroughly: Remove all grass, mud, and debris from the wheel hub and fork using a brush and water (dry thoroughly afterward).
- Inspect for rust or bending: If the axle is rusted, clean it with fine sandpaper and apply a light waterproof grease. Replace if badly pitted or bent.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the wheel and ensure it spins and swivels freely.
When to replace: Replace the caster wheel assembly if it remains stiff or damaged.
