Possible Causes
Perimeter wire shorted together, Wire twisted or overlapped excessively, Strong external electromagnetic interference, Faulty perimeter wire connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the mower OFF and unplug the base station power supply before working on the perimeter wire.
- Inspect wire layout: Check that the perimeter wire is laid according to Robomow guidelines, with correct spacing between outgoing and return wires and no tight coils or overlaps.
- Check for shorts: Look for places where the two ends of the wire may be touching or where a repair connector may have failed and allowed conductors to contact each other.
- Remove temporary joins: If you have multiple repair connectors, temporarily remove or redo them one by one to isolate a faulty connector.
- Reduce interference: Ensure the perimeter wire is not run parallel and very close to other buried cables (power, dog fence, etc.). If it is, reroute the wire with more separation.
- Test with a small loop: As with E7, create a small test loop directly at the base station. If E8 disappears on the test loop, the problem is in the yard wiring.
- Persistent E8 on test loop: The base station transmitter may be malfunctioning and should be replaced.
