Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the main power switch OFF and remove the mower from the charging station. Wear cut‑resistant gloves when working near the blades.
- Check emergency stop button: On many Stiga robot mowers (e.g. Autoclip series), the red STOP or top cover safety button must be fully released. Press it firmly several times, then ensure it pops up completely. Clean any grass or debris around the button.
- Inspect lift sensor: Gently lift the front and rear of the mower and listen for a click from the lift microswitches. If the mower shows E1 only when lifted, the sensor is working. If E1 appears even when the mower is flat on the ground, the lift sensor may be stuck or misaligned.
- Check underbody: Turn the mower upside down (power OFF). Locate the lift sensor levers or plungers near the chassis edges. Remove packed grass and dirt. Make sure the levers move freely and return by spring force.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the lift sensor cable from the underside to the main control board. Look for pinched, cut, or corroded wires and loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the main PCB.
- Reset and test: Turn power ON, place the mower on level ground, and close all covers. Clear the error and start a manual mowing cycle. If E1 persists, the lift sensor or main board input may need replacement.
Warning: If you are not comfortable opening the top cover to access the main board, contact an authorized Stiga service center.
